The First Horse People Newsletter!
"A dog may be man's best friend, but the horse helped write history"
Welcome to the first ever Horse People Newsletter!!!
Howdy Friends,
You can expect a few things from this new content experience:
Updates on Podcast episodes.
Highlighting podcast guests and their accomplishments, books, news, and other resources.
I’ll give you some hot takes and different perspective on the industry that I think might add some value to you and your horse and hopefully makes you slightly smarter and more informed about what’s what in the industry past and present.
New Podcast Episode: Head of Marketing at Myracehorse.com
In the next episode of the pod, released (almost) every Tuesday, I talk to Shona Rotondo from Myracehorse.com. If you have ever wanted to own a racehorse, learn what it takes to be a race horse owner, or even wonder how someone can get into racing, this might be an episode you’ll enjoy! Shona’s story into the industry, passion for racing and understanding of the user experience makes for a really exciting conversation that I’m sure you’ll really enjoy + an inside scoop at Authentic a My Race Horse owned Kentucky Derby winner.
A little bit about me:
When I was 23 years old, I hung this picture on my wall:
I was just out of college and in my first ever “real” job making enough money to get by, but ever since I heard about the Mongol Derby I knew that I wanted to compete in the longest & toughest horse race in the world, and ride with the best of them.
In the meantime, I kept leaning into my work and life and following the Mongol Derby every year. I started the Horse People Podcast, got a dog, promoted at work, and ran two half-marathons….
And now, it’s happening. What started as a pipe dream in 2018, has become a reality in 2022. I have been officially accepted to race in the Mongol Derby in August of 2024 and represent my hometown of El Paso, TX and check one off the bucket list.
If you want to help me make that happen, you can share the newsletter and podcast to folks and introduce me to potential sponsors of the pod.
What Made Me Start This Newsletter
The goal of this newsletter is to add value to you, the subscribers.
I realize that I am but a vessel for your incredible stories and it is my goal for your stories to be heard by everyone, not only Horse People across the world. And, though a podcast is a great piece of evergreen content, email can often be a quicker way to communicate stories and get the word out.
In short; I want this to be an additional resource for you, Horse People listeners and readers.
Up next - in next weeks newsletter stay tuned to find out the top 10 dream guests for the podcast and a deep dive (pun intended) into Sonora Carver, one of the first female horse divers.
